Pre-BA Jewellery Design

Before I pick up the touch, I am just an ordinary student that studied in the classroom and do as what teacher said. Now, I could use the metalsmithing to create my works and express my thoughts. It’s definitely a big change in my life.

I previously thought jewellery is object only for decoration until I contact with the contemporary jewellery, which could be a new language from maker’s creative mind. For instance, “Little monster” collection, I created vivid teenager’s jewellery base on vintage mature accessories from my mother as self-expression. Besides, in another series – “Princesses”, it used bloody visual language to reveal the truth stories of children fairy tales, such as “Cinderella” and “Snow white”. Showing the Disney princesses that the characters were familiar to us in another version, like evil Snow white and vainglorious Cinderella. I put plenty of bones inside the Snow white’s head to indicate her evil and used fake diamonds to decorate the inside of Cinderella’s head. These original stories courage the audience to face the cruel reality.

From my perspective, jewellery is the best media to build up a communication between audience and me. Meanwhile making my Life incredible.

在我拿起焊枪之前，我是一名在教室里学习并遵从着老师话语的普通学生。现在，我会用不同的金属工艺来制作作品表达想法。这实在是一大变化。

在我接触当代首饰之前，我只是认为首饰是装饰物。但是，首饰也可以作为一种表达创意的新语言。例如，在《小怪物》这系列作品里，我使用妈妈送给我的成熟首饰修改成自己真心喜爱的作品。而《公主》系列，我使用黑暗血腥的视觉语言来讽刺那些真实的童话故事。

作品展现了亲切的迪士尼公主可能存在的另外一面，如邪恶的白雪公主和虚荣的灰姑娘。由骸骨堆砌的白雪公主与满脑子钻石的灰姑娘，我希望用这些“原版的童话故事”鼓励观者勇敢面对残酷的事实真相。

首饰是最能帮助我与外界沟通的媒介，它让我的生活变得更丰富。
